125 Years of Florida Public Health
September 30, 2014 – May 10, 2015

125 Years of Florida Public Health logoPublic Health touches all aspects of a person's life—starting with a birth certificate and ending with a death certificate. 125 Years of Florida Public Health tells the fascinating story of the evolution of Florida's state public health agency and its impact on the daily lives of Floridians. In 1889, the Florida Legislature created this statewide governing body to protect the public from epidemics, to educate residents about important health matters, and to improve the quality of life for all Floridians.

More than 50 unique artifacts from the Florida Department of Health and State Archives of Florida will be on display alongside personal stories, interpretive text, and historical photographs that illustrate how Public Health work has developed throughout the years and how state health programs have expanded to meet the needs of Florida's growing population.

Visit the Florida Historic Capitol Museum between September 30, 2014, and May 10, 2015, and witness the remarkable 125-year journey of Florida Public Health.
